LW Series Switches Are Available from IDEC: The Pushbutton Series that Fills the Gap Between Industrial and Commercial Applications
IDEC Corporation, worldwide manufacturer of control components,
including pushbuttons, timers, sockets, relays, programmable logic
controllers, and sensors, announces the release of its new 7/8 inch (22mm) LW series of
switches.
The new LW series bridges the gap between the existing industrial TW series (22mm) and the commercial A series (16mm). Combining the 22mm size of the TW series with the low-level contacts, characteristic of the 16mm A series switches, the new LW series is rugged enough to handle industrial applications, yet flexible enough to accommodate most commercial applications.
IDEC's exclusive, light touch mechanism is ergonomically designed to require minimal force and reduce repetitive strain injuries, such as carpal tunnel. Light touch and high reliability are only two of the LW's exciting features. There is a choice of PC board, solder tab, or screw terminals; all LW series terminals are completely interchangeable. A positive action, locking lever is strategically placed behind the panel to attach your choice of contacts. Since the operator is mounted from behind the panel, the LW series can be considered tamperproof.
All switches can be mounted on 1" centers which saves valuable panel space. Nevertheless, easy installation of the contact blocks allow for simple maintenance. Easy to install and maintain, the LW series PCB terminals mount directly onto a PC board and can be quickly removed from the operator. The bayonet mount with a locking lever provides simple installation and removal, even when units are mounted collectively. Additionally, the LW series saves board space as there is no need for special mounting adapters.
LW control units are offered in flush, extended, or mushroom buttons with either round or square bezels. A choice of incandescent or LED illumination is also offered. Made of black polyacetal, operators provide either momentary or maintained action. The non-reflective lenses, which are made of polyarylate, provide a bright, clearly illuminated face. Also available are two- and three-position selector switches, in either illuminated, non-illuminated, or keylock versions.
IDEC's LW series is available in either SPDT, DPDT, or 3PDT contact configurations, with either silver or gold contacts. The silver contacts are rated to 5 amps, while the low level gold-clad cross-bar contacts provide a perfect interface for PLC applications. All units meet IP65 (oiltight and watertight) requirements. The LW series is UL recognized, CSA certified, and IEC approved.
