Non-Filled Sensors: NHG 170 Sensor
THE EXTRUSION MELT PRESSURE SPECIALISTS
ISI now offers a non-filled sensor based on high temperature strain gauge technology. This technology overcomes many of the major drawbacks of other existing transducer technologies. Offering a combined error of less than 0.5%, negligible temperature effects and a highly durable construction, the ISI NHG represents a major breakthrough in transducer technology. Designed specifically for extrusion of food packaging, medical products and food, the ISI NHG may be used in any extrusion process up to 350°C (662°F).
In addition to answering the needs of extrusion line applications, the NHG overcomes many of the drawbacks of currently available transducers.
The NHG sensor has a titanium diaphragm that makes it inherently corrosive and abrasion resistant in comparison to 15-5 stainless steel typically used on other sensors. Not only does this make the NHG diaphragm longer lasting, but, because the titanium diaphragm is made of a more durable material, the NHG makes possible accurate pressure measurement of a number of new processes including low glass content nylons and other mildly abrasive materials.
The NHG diaphragm is many times thicker than stainless steel diaphragms, anywhere from 4 times to 12 times depending on pressure range. This thicker construction makes the NHG diaphragm almost indestructible, an obvious advantage in extrusion plants, even if the sensor is dropped.
