The range is far too great to detail here, but runs from energy-efficient motors under precise speed control, through servos, robots, machine tools and industrial lasers, numerical controllers, and a vast range of programmable controllers for every phase of factory automation.

This business unit stands ready to serve the world's automobile manufacturing industry with everything from the basic transducers that measure and make controllable every parameter of a car's performance, to the on-board computers that control ignition, suspension and brakes, etc., through satellite-based car navigation systems and even an electronic obstacle detection and avoidance systems and other preventive safety systems of the near future.

Mitsubishi Electric's generators, transformers and switchgear for electric power generation, transmission and distribution, whether for hydroelectric, thermal, or nuclear power stations, are part of the essential infrastructure supporting modern society. This is a stable, still-growing market for our products, and one in which we have much to contribute overseas as we move manufacturing closer to our markets. Devising more efficient ways to utilize energy and developing new energy systems is one very important way we can serve society.

The tremendous range of products in this business unit runs from pocket telephones, in which we dominate the Japanese market and are a major force in overseas markets, to the artificial satellite communication systems that form the nerves and sinews of modern society. The first Japanese company to commit to artificial satellites, in 1960, Mitsubishi Electric has contributed to more than half of all the satellites used by Japan throughout the decades that followed. This is also an area where we are firmly established in local markets, serving local and international needs.
